I Built A $255,000 Share Portfolio in 6 Years - I want to share the details with you...The 1000 Dollar Project Podcast

<p>A little over 6 years ago, I started a fun financial challenge for myself. I wanted to get back into investing however I had just gone through an expensive divorce and was on such a tight budget. I had no money for investing. So I decided to find new ways to ear extra money and save extra money. Each time I found some extra money in my life, I put it in a seperate savings account and the moment my account hit $1,000 I bought some blue chip Australian shares (industrial). I repeated this process over and over again and took out a very conservatively managed Margin Loan along the way. Today this portfolio is worth approximately $255,000 and has paid me a passive income of over $8,731 (a special dividend of over $4,800 was paid a week after this which is not included in this figure but will carry forward to next years income). Whilst all this income is reinvested, I take the exact equivalent and donate it every year to World Vision's 1000 Girl Project - where this money helps protect young girls from slavery, sex trafficking, child marriage and gives them a safe home, clothing, healthcare and most importantly, education.
