How to Use Auxiliary Verbs (Do, Have and Be)

<p>Imagine you&apos;re meeting a coworker for the first time and you’re making <a href='https://intrepidenglish.co.uk/why-is-small-talk-an-important-business-english-skill/'>small talk</a>. What might you say to them? </p><p>“How <b>do </b>you do?” </p><p>“How <b>has </b>your project been going?” </p><p>“How <b>are </b>you feeling today?” </p><p>Those phrases all mean similar things, but if you switch around the auxiliary verbs a friendly and polite conversation could turn <a href='https://intrepidenglish.co.uk/extreme-adjectives-and-how-to-use-them/'>miserable</a> and confusing:</p><p>“How <b>are </b>you do?” </p><p>“How <b>do </b>the project been going?” </p><p>“How <b>have </b>you feeling this morning?” </p><p>Changing these few little words can mean the difference between the start of a fruitful partnership and starting off on the absolute wrong foot!
