How 'shared work' propped up New York's pandemic economy

Nov. 3, 2021 - One of the unsung heroes for New York's economy during the pandemic was the state's shared work program, which allowed employers to reduce the hours of employees, who then got to collect pro-rated state unemployment benefits and, at some points, an enhanced federal unemployment benefit. State Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon explains how the program was utilized and what it's future could look like.
