Description

Episode 27. If you feel out of control and deeply ashamed of your binge eating or your weight, this post is for you. I spent 13 years of my life stuck in the binge eating and dieting cycle. I have spent even longer studying the psychology of eating behavior (partly to try to figure myself out). This post is a summary of what I learned. What works. What doesn't work. So you can get out of the binge eating, emotional eating, dieting roller coaster ride asap and start living the life you were meant to. Vulnerability is courage in you, and weakness in me Do you ever listen to this podcast, or read what others write online and think, "Wow that's brave, but I could never do that?" If so, I have been where you are. Back in 2009, I was deep in my binge eating disorder shame spiral. I would walk around the streets of Philadelphia listening to the Inside Out Weight Loss podcast. I listened to the things that Renee Stephens said about eating food out of the garbage can and think that exact same thing. Sometimes I even thought, should she really be sharing all of this with us? It felt so raw, and at times was somewhat hard to look at. But it also gave me immense hope and was part of what lead me here today, feeling more at peace and grounded in who I am than I ever have before. What to Expect: In today's episode and post, you will find: More details about my personal journey with disordered eating (including the ways the immense amount of shame I felt about it kept me so stuck)Why all the evidence-based information and tools made no differenceWhat things made the biggest difference for me, and why a lot of the self-help work I was trying on myself (including books on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) just were not enough. Ready to Break the Binge Eating Cycle for Good? Ready to stop avoiding and break the binge eating cycle for good? The first step is to disrupt the cycle. My free practical guide has 23 positive ideas for things to do
