Do we have more in common than we think?<br /><br />Gary Beckwith first developed an appreciation for<br />writing at Penn State University. He was enrolled as a<br />science major, but his freshman English teacher wrote<br />on the cover of his final essay, “you should consider a<br />career in writing!”<br /><br />Working as solar energy system engineer, his employer<br />also noticed his writing and asked him to work on their<br />catalogs, books, newsletters, and instruction manuals.<br />In the 1990s he was co-author of The Solar Living<br />Sourcebook (7thand 8th Editions).<br /><br />Out of personal interest, Beckwith studied comparative religion, focusing his research on<br />the similarities. He searched for a simple book that outlined the common teachings shared<br />by the world’s major religions. Unable to find one, he decided to write The Message<br />That Comes From Everywhere: Exploring The Common Bonds of the World’s Religions.<br />The book has received excellent reviews from a variety of publications. It has been used<br />in Sunday School classes, book discussion groups, and other forums in several countries<br />as a useful tool in learning about spirituality and promoting peace, from an inclusive<br />perspective.<br /><br />While researching the book, Beckwith became interested in hypnosis and became a<br />certified hypnotherapist.<br /><br />Along with his focus on spirituality, Gary continues to be active in the solar energy field.<br />He is the driver and organizer of the Solar Bus, an educational project that teaches about<br />solar energy, visiting schools and other venues in the Northeast.<br />Beckwith has been interviewed on several radio programs and written articles for<br />magazines across the country. His published articles have covered issues relating to solar<br />energy technology, comparative religion, self-hypnosis, and lucid dreaming. He<br />continues to teach classes on solar energy in Northern Verm
