Hashimoto's Without Antibodies? Yes, It's Possible (Sero Negative Hashimoto's Explained)

Is it possible to have Hashimoto's thyroiditis without positive antibodies? The answer is yes and and it occurs in the form of sero negative Hashimoto's. In fact, there are at least 2 conditions that result in negative antibodies even though there is active inflammation (the hallmark of Hashimoto's) in the thyroid gland. One condition is known as sero negative Hashimoto's and it is actually quite common. In this condition, patients have active inflammation in the thyroid gland but they have NEGATIVE thyroid antibodies. What's interesting, though, is that they still respond to normal treatments for Hashimoto's, and the disease tends to be less severe compared to those with positive antibodies. Another condition that results in negative antibodies is end-stage Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
