Description

Dr. Mitchell continues in Mark 12:23 with the Sadducees confronting Jesus. Their hypothetical situation was so construed as to deprecate the resurrection of the body by the living God. These Sadducees are likened to the theological liberals of this present generation.

As Mark writes, Jesus said they were in error because they did not know the Scriptures nor the power of the living God. God is the God of the living, not of the dead.

Then Jesus is asked by a discerning scribe what is the greatest commandment of the law. After Jesus answered this sincere request, the man recognized the real intent and spirit of the law.

The Lord Jesus recognized the heart and mind of this Scribe. He was near to the kingdom of God in his understanding.

Here is Dr. Mitchell. Mark 12:23.
