Geoff Kirbyson interview-50th anniversary of the Winnipeg Jets debut in the WHA

<p>Tonight’s guest is journalist and hockey author Geoff Kirbyson. Geoff hales from Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada and has been a writer for the Winnipeg Free Press for decades while also contributing columns for Canadian Business Magazine.</p> <p>In 2016 he published his first book “The Hot Line: How the Legendary Trio of Hull, Hedberg and Nilsson transformed hockey and led the Winnipeg Jets to greatness” a brilliant account of the one of the greatest scoring lines in hockey history and how their style of play altered hockey tactics forever.</p> <p>In 2021 Geoff released his second book “Broken Ribs and Popcorn: how the Winnipeg Jets became the best team in the NHL’s most offensive era not to win the Stanley Cup”, an account of how the Jets rebuilt themselves during the 1980s after merging with the NHL in 1979.</p> <p>This month marks the 50th anniversary of when the Winnipeg Jets were formed and became the flagship franchise in the World Hockey Association.</p>
