GBW #52: Coming to You Live... For Now (Pontypool / Spree / WNUF Halloween Special)

<p>Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!</p> <p>This week, Chris and Ryan dive into the niche world of Broadcast Terrors; a sub-subgenre of horror in which horrific events are being broadcast in real-time over the airwaves, the Internet, or your television. We start with "<strong>Pontypool</strong>," a 2008 zombie movie gem in which a small Canadian AM radio station slowly discovers the terror happening outside their studio. While we both agree that the final leg of the film is a bit rough, the first 2/3rds brim with tension, suspense, and solid filmmaking. Then, we move onto 2020's "<strong>Spree</strong>," a film that has an interesting hook (think "<strong>Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer</strong>" but wanting to become a viral sensation) but suffers from an imbalance of tone, despite strong commitment from the cast.
