GBW #104: John Doe's Got the Upper Hand (Saw / Law Abiding Citizen/ Resurrection [1999])

<p>Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed &quot;good,&quot; &quot;bad,&quot; or &quot;what!?&quot; within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor&#39;s filmography, and more!</p> <p>This week, Ryan and Chris discuss three grisly, horror-tinged procedurals that all mine their influence (some more shameless than others) from the success of David Fincher&#39;s 1995 iconic &quot;Se7en.&quot; We start with &quot;Saw&quot; from 2004, since the franchise is back in the conversation with the release of the (surprisingly well-received) tenth entry last month, and talk about how the film managed to be a trendsetter in its own right, for better or worse. Then, we move into 2009&#39;s bonkers &quot;Law Abiding Citizen,&quot; which certainly apes &quot;Se7en&quot; (as well as &quot;Death Wish,&quot; &quot;The Dark Knight,&quot; and many others), but does its own thing in regards to the social commentary regarding the justice system (even if you don&#39;t buy a cent of it).
