Pressure has been growing for Rubiales to resign, following widespread condemnation for his unsolicited kiss on Spain's Jenni Hermoso after the recent Women's World Cup final, in which Spain defeated England to become world champions for the very first time. Football's world governing body FIFA provisionally suspended Lui Rubiales. However, he has dug his heels in and has doubled down on his intention to remain in his role, despite becoming increasingly isolated domestically. Irene highlighted how the whole incident had cast a shadow over Spain's Women's World Cup victory and spoke about the actions that need to be taken against Rubiales. Deirdre outlined the actions of the Spanish FA defending Rubiales and explained that it sends a negative message to girls and women across the world.
