Former Chief Fire Officer Claims LGMA Must Accede To Full Retained Firefighter Demands

A former Chief Fire Officer and current Clare County Councillor claims the retained firefighters dispute will only be resolved if the LGMA bring a comprehensive remuneration package to the table. In the latest escalation of industrial action today, crew members in this county and beyond will no longer be communicating with local authority call centres, with the exception of relaying life saving information. Clare's firefighters currently respond to 840 calls on average each year, with 71% of the county's force currently comprised of retained personnel.
