The statement reflects the deity of Christ, which the author established earlier in the epistle. It also reflects the confidence of faith that every believer has in Christ. Like most New Testament books, the author warned against false teaching. But, conversely, the author encouraged the readers to strengthen themselves by the grace of God.</p>
