EPL: Varane can’t manage pace – Ferguson’s ex-assistant identifies big problem with Man Utd

<p>Rene Meulensteen, a former assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, has critically assessed Raphael Varane, claiming the Frenchman cannot manage the pace of the Premier League.</p>, <p>Meulensteen also identified one big problem with Man United’s midfield under manager Erik ten Hag this season.</p>, <p>“He Varane can’t manage the pace. The Premier League is dynamic. Everything goes at 100 miles an hour,” Meulensteen said via UtdPlug.</p>, <p>“That is the big problem with the midfield. They don’t have energy and that is how the defense struggles.”</p>, <p>Varane joined Manchester United in 2021 from Real Madrid.</p>, <p>The Frenchman established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the world during his time at Real Madrid.</p>, <p>But he has so far failed to replicate that at the Red Devils.</p>
