EPL: Haaland to become highest earner as Man City sets to double his wages

<p>Manchester City is ready to almost double Erling Haaland’s wages, in a bid to stave off interest from Real Madrid, the Daily Star reports.</p>, <p>The Norwegian already earns £375,000-a-week, which makes him the joint highest earner at the Etihad alongside Kevin De Bruyne.</p>, <p>City, however, wants to offer him a new contract which would see him pick up £600,000-a-week.</p>, <p>Haaland’s current deal runs until 2027 but the Premier League champions want the 23-year-old to extend it.</p>, <p>Apart from Madrid, City is also aware of the money on offer in Saudi Arabia, with Riyad Mahrez opting to leave the Treble winners for the Middle East this summer.</p>, <p>Haaland’s new contract could see him enter football’s top 10 earners list with an annual salary of £32.5m.</p>
