Description

Do you have healthy boundaries? Are you comfortable setting boundaries? What happens when you DON'T have boundaries?

As usual, we start out this episode with some fun chat about our ability to count plates on a barbell and inability to count literally anything else, why we love lifting when we have NO idea what weight is on the barbell, and how so much of lifting is really our own expectations. We talk about a recent presentation Holly did on body image and disordered eating, and go into a bit about how your perception of yourself can change how you interact with the world, and how conditioned we are by our beliefs.

At about 10:20 we get into our main topic for today: boundaries. How do you know when you’re lacking them? How do you you set healthy boundaries? How do you identify what boundaries are important for you?

We define the difference between boundaries and rules, and why it is important that boundaries build your self trust- not take away from it. Holly talks about the ‘self trust bank account’ and why it is important that your boundaries feed that account, whereas strict control and rules can often drain it.

We go into the Be Well Cartel Boundary Framework, and give tools, recommendations and a breakdown of how to define your values and priorities, set realistic goals, and define the boundaries that are necessary for you to set in order to live in accordance with those values.

You’ll hear specific advice for how to practice setting boundaries and how to uphold them in your daily life, and what to do when someone doesn’t respect a boundary you’ve set.

Books/People mentioned in this podcast:

-Brené Brown (the anatomy of trust)- google it!

-Crucial Conversations

-Nonviolent Communication

-Byron Katie

We LOVE your feedback, and appreciate so much when you share our podcast with the people you love!
