Radium became a “cure-all,” luxurious wonder product-- a cure all and more.  Radium’s distinct pale green glow became a must-have on watches, which soon led to the crippling illnesses and horrible deaths of many factory girls who painted those very watches, nicknamed the Radium Girls.
