Episode 139 - Bishop Burbidge on the 225th anniversary of the Basilica of Saint Mary

<p>Most Reverend Michael Burbidge, Bishop of the Diocese of Arlington, celebrated a Mass in commemoration of the 225th anniversary of the Basilica of Saint Mary on October 10, 2020. During his homily, he reflected on the history and legacy of the parish.</p> <p><em>Founded in 1795, the Basilica of Saint Mary in Old Town Alexandria is the first Catholic parish established in Virginia. Pope Francis named the church a minor basilica on December 6, 2017 due to its important role in the growth of the Catholic Church in North America.</em></p>
