Ep. 187: Create in Me a Clean Heart

David’s willingness to expose his brokenness for all Israel to see and learn from is inspiring. Also, using his words to pray for the hearts of others is a practical application of the text also. </p> <p class="p4"> </p> <p class="p3">The primary scripture text for this episode is 2 Samuel 12:13 and Psalm 51 with 10, 12, and 17 as the focal verses:</p> <p class="p4"> </p> <p class="p3">“Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied, “Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin.”  (2 Samuel 12:13)</p> <p class="p4"> </p> <p class="p3">Create in me a clean heart, O God.</p> <p class="p3">    Renew a loyal spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)</p> <p class="p4"> </p> <p class="p3">Restore to me the joy of your salvation,</p> <p class="p3">    and make me willing to obey you. (Psalm 51:12)</p> <p class="p4"> </p> <p class="p3">The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.</p> <p class="p3">    You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
