Enugu tribunal sacks LP federal lawmaker

<p>The election petition tribunal in Enugu State has sacked Prof Paul Nnamchi of the Labour Party, representing the Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency of the state.</p>, <p>The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Cornelius Nnaji was declared the winner instead.</p>, <p>Nnaji had approached the tribunal, challenging the declaration of Nnamchi as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.</p>, <p>The court said that the respondent was not duly sponsored and therefore not qualified to contest on the platform of the Labour Party.</p>, <p>The tribunal agreed in its unanimous decision with the petitioner’s claim that the Labour Party’s candidate was not qualified to contest the election.</p>
