Description
An Ennis community group insists it will "be a shame" if vehicular access is opted for over pedestrianisation in the county town going forward. A total of 158 objections were received by Clare County Council following it's announcement in April that temporary pedestrianisation measures on Ennis's O'Connell Street would be extended to January 7th 2024. However, an online survey conducted by Ennis Municipal District found that over 71% of its 1,796 participants would like to see some form of pedestrianisation "immediately". Following the ending of pedestrianisation on O'Connell Street, Gearoid Mahon, who's a member of the community group Better Ennis, fears it's a step back for those who would like to see increased pedestrian access in the county town.
