Cannabis and cannabinoids (the molecules of cannabis) influence a wide range of physiological and psychological processes. In some instances, these actions might serve to benefit women’s health and well-being and might be useful in managing symptoms associated with certain conditions. She completed her residency in family medicine and enhanced skills training in maternal and child health at McGill University. She maintains an active practice including addictions with a special interest in women, substance use and pregnancy in Northern Ontario. She is an author of over 50 peer-reviewed papers including papers related to substance use and pregnancy/breastfeeding. Her clinical, teaching and research interests include medical education, maternal/child health and vulnerable populations. She is currently the Associate Dean Faculty Affairs at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in Kalamazoo Michigan and professor of Family and Community Medicine.</p>
