Emergency departments deal with historically long wait times

The issue of long wait times are plaguing hospital emergency departments across Canada. Provincial premiers say an ER crisis, and the health-care system more broadly, will be their main priority when they meet next week at the Council of the Federation. Organizations representing Canada's doctors, nurses and hospitals say governments at all levels need an action plan — and fast.
