Ebonyi police arrest 2 kidnappers, rescue victim

Olaleye, who made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki, said the command received a distress call that a clergy had been kidnapped and swung into action by mobilising the tactical teams to rescue the victim.</p>, <p>Three others injured in the attack according to DAILY POST source, who confided in our correspondent in Ilorin on Sunday.</p>, <p>Incidentally, the victim could not be confirmed as a member of the cultists groups at the time of this report but was killed in the attack.</p>, <p>NEMA has, however, said that no fewer than one hundred and sixty eight persons have been displaced as a result of the incident.</p>, <p>“Unfortunately, they were over-powered by the superior fire power of the police which led to one of them being neutralized and the arrest of two principal suspects.</p>, <p>According to him: “The kidnappers were intercepted along Ndofia Ishieke and Edupfu Egbu Ishieke in Ebonyi Local Government Area, where they abandoned the victim and took to their heels while exchanging gunshots with the Police to pave way for their escape.</p>, <p>He said that the tactical teams and the Divisional Police Officer of Ebonyi Division condoned and barricaded a marked out area which led to interception of the kidnappers.</p>, <p>South West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Mr Saheed Akiode made this disclosure via a statement made available to DAILY POST.</p>, <p>Akiode said, “Over 168 persons displaced.
