E09 - No One's Stronger than the Earthworms / Krasnye Zori

This mixtape combines elements of doom-fem, back to folk, back to the land, back to minimal, back to the ground, and under the ground. In Krasnye Zori's own words: <br />"Our mixtape consists in one-third of our friends' compositions and the St. Petersburg underground scene significant for us (Techno-Poetry, Borisov|Borisov, and Studio of Unconscious Music among others); an other third is taken from famous Western and Russian bands that inspired and formed us (from Grazhdankaya Oborona to Janis Joplin and Coil; Portishead to C.C.C.P. and Lingua Ignota); and for the last third, we used tracks from our first album.<br />There's no one stronger than the earthworms, comrades!"<br /><br />Krasnye Zori is a fem-trip-punk electronic duo who occasionally expand into a five-piece live band. Their name translates from Russian as Red Dawns and they hail from a little-known railway station near Peterhof, on the outskirts of St Petersburg where trains rarely stop.<br />The musical approach of Krasnye Zori mixes field recordings, beats, and synthesizers. Their latest experiments include invented instruments made of found objects and throat singing, as well as a powerhouse punk-rock rhythm section.
