David Commins – AL Amyloidosis Disease

AL amyloidosis is caused by an abnormality in certain cells found in the bone marrow, called plasma cells. The abnormal plasma cells produce abnormal forms of light chain proteins, which enter the bloodstream and can form amyloid deposits. One of our listeners David Commins from Thurles was diagnosed with this in 2020. He joined us in studio this morning to tell us more about the disease.
