<p>"Why is the top "100 songs ever" mostly old songs?" [Obvious when you think about it]</p> <p><br> <br> We're on a mission to help one million people RISE by 2030 - join the movement at <a href="http://www.myrise.co.uk/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myrise.co.uk</a></p> <p><br></p> <p>I had a comment on one of our social media posts the other day.</p> <p>“Why don’t you have as many new ones of these?”</p> <p>About our success stories.</p> <p>“As many new ones as what?” I replied.</p> <p>“The old ones” they answered.</p> <p>“You don’t seem to get as many new ones”.</p> <p>They were wondering why we have less new success stories than we have old ones.</p> <p>Which I get.</p> <p>A higher proportion of the success stories we put out there are from, let’s say, 2012 to 2019 then they are from 2020 to 2021.</p> <p>For two reasons.</p> <p>1. We probably have been able to get less before and afters done – not that they’re not happening, just that we’ve only had about a third of that time in the club and our average membership numbers were a bit down during the lockdowns.</p> <p>But, more importantly;</p> <p>2. 2012 – 2019 is a longer time period.</p> <p>If the number of before and afters we were getting was the same every single month since we opened, then there would automatically be “more old ones than new ones”.</p> <p>88 months would produce more than 19 months.</p> <p>“Quick maths” Big Shaq would say.</p> <p>It’s like observing that most songs in a “Top 100 songs of all time” are “old” (not from the last year or two)………….</p> <p>And thinking this automatically means “modern music isn’t as good”.</p> <p>When you’re comparing 60+ years to 2 years.</p> <p>We could stop sharing the older success stories, I suppose.</p> <p>But, why would we?</p> <p>They occurred in our programme.</p> <p>Which has improved year on year.</p> <p>A different success story might just ring true with a particular person seeing it.</p> <p>Even if it is from a few years ago.</p> <p>That being said, we’re always up for new success stories.<
