Customs vows to clamp down on illicit trade

<p>The Nigeria Customs Service has restated its determination to curb illicit trade.</p>, <p>Acting Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi disclosed this recently while showcasing seized items suspected of being Cannabis sativa at Ogun II Area Command.</p>, <p>He explained that the harmful effects of illicit substances on youths cannot be overemphasised as they pose a significant challenge to public health, safety, and socioeconomic development.</p>, <p>The seizure of 14,015 parcels of Cannabis sativa by officers of FOU Zone A, which weighed 7,728 kg, translated to a Paid Value of N618,240,000.</p>, <p>The shipment was discharged from boats at the creeks around Ajah and in the Ijebu-Ode area.</p>
