Description

Clare County Council has defended the pace of progress on flood relief works in Shannon. €27 million in Government funding was allocated towards the Shannon Town and Environs Flood Relief Scheme received in 2018. Clare County Council is reassuring, however, that the scheme is moving forward, and that an update will be presented to Councillors at their monthly meeting on Friday. The project includes drainage work, as well as the strengthening, raising and widening of embankments on the estuary, which will protect Shannon town, the airport and the industrial estate. Senior Engineer with Clare County Council, Seán Lenihan says the scheme has to go through the planning process with An Bórd Pleanála.
