Description

A Clare Independent TD insists that primary schools are being depleted of vital funds due to a failure of government policy. As part of budget 2024, the capitation grant which assists national schools with day to day running costs was increased to €200 per student per annum. However in September, a joint letter issued by all seven primary management bodies sought a rate of at least €275 to mitigate soaring insurance premiums. Scariff Deputy Michael McNamara believes that more students would benefit if the state picked up the tab.
