Clare Social Housing Chair Says Greater Provision Of Local Affordable Homes Must Be Prioritised

Clare's Social Housing Chair believes the large scale provision of affordable homes is the only true way to solve the local accommodation crisis. The Shannon Electoral Area has this week been designated as a rent pressure zone, after rental prices there rose by more than 7% in each of the last four quarters. It comes just three months after the Ennis area gained RPZ status , meaning rates for private tenancies in both areas cannot exceed an increase of 2% per annum. Shannon Independent Councillor, Gerry Flynn says however that increasing supply is the only real solution to the problem
