Description

A Clare forester has has described the Government's Forestry Licensing plan as unambitious, saying he doesn't believe targets will be achieved. The Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity at the Department of Agriculture has this week published the Forestry Licencing plan for next year. The plan estimates that 4,200 new licences will be issued in 2024 and the focus will remain on maximising afforestation rates to ensure that the targets outlined in Ireland’s Climate Action Plan are met. Former Green Party councillor and Darragh-based forester, Brian Meaney says he doesn't see how the plan can be successful.
