Clare Financial Advisor Claims Fully Targeted Supports Were Impossible In Budget 2024

A Clare Financial Advisor has defended the government for focusing on universal rather than means tested supports in Budget 2024. In a formal response issued this week, budgetary watchdog IFAC has stated that 71% of the announced cost-of-living supports along with the confirmed income tax breaks were "untargeted." Among the general measures introduced was a €300 lump sum payment for fuel allowance recipients and double child benefit for Christmas. Tommy Corbett from Carey Corbett Financial Solutions in Ennis says that targeted measures are not always possible.
