Description

On Monday's Morning Focus, Pat was joined by Cormac McGinley who is a geologist from Donegal now living in Clare and runs Cormac's Coast. He also leads educational excursions around the UNESCO Burren GeoPark and Cliffs of Moher. Cormac discussed the recent discovery of a rock with unique markings on it which is estimated to be roughly 330 million years old. He described the rock which was found on a beach at Cruit Island and highlighted how unusual it is to find granite in that particular area. Cormac made reference to the various people that sent him photos of the rock and advised anyone who may come across a significant object such as this to leave it where you found it.
