Description

A pattern changes with the ridge out west de-amplifying briefly for the rest of this week, over the weekend and early next week. This bodes well for moisture in the northern Plains and along the Canadian border, but locally the high-pressure ridge axis moves over the Rocky Mountain High Plains region with more westerly down sloping warming daytime temperature into the upper 90’s with some excessive 100-degree heat potential and elevated fire concerns. Today will be our best shot for some scattered afternoon and evening rain with a weak trough and front moving through the northwesterly flow. We will also need to enjoy the cooler 80-degree temperature, because tomorrow we will be in the 90’s heading for 100 on Friday. Over the weekend dryness prevails prolonging our dry summer and the moderate drought returning to the area last week will likely worsen.
