Cash remains king in Africa

The PwC Strategy's 2022 Open Banking and Payments Survey, shows cash remains the most dominant payment type on the African continent. Respondents were interviewed across three key African economies - South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria. Chantal Maritz, PwC Africa Payments Transformation Leader, said the results highlight the lack of varied digital payment acceptance mediums and infrastructure across all three African countries.
