Better Savannah Episode 57: The Clinton Young Interview (HD 165)

<p>we continue our interview series for House District 165 special election on November 2nd with Clinton Young. </p><p>Clinton ran against the late Representative Mickey Stephens in the most recent 2020 primary cycle, garnering around 37% of the vote. Clinton brings a lot to the conversation, especially surrounding some of our local issues. </p><p>His positions on SEDA (Savannah Economic Development Authority) were amongst the best responses from the candidates. His strong stance on term limits was also impressive. </p><p>While Clinton presents a cautious view of changing the Charters for local governments and authorities, he clearly saw a problem with what's going on at Savannah City Hall. </p><p>John asks Clinton about using the extra 2% Hotel tax increase to preserve The Weeping Time property. After a lengthy discussion, Clinton finally agreed that part of the revenue should be used to acquire and preserve the land. Our most tense exchanges came around the issues of SCAD and Casino Gambling. </p><p>Clinton prefers the referendum route for many controversial issues.
