Aubameyang reveals only Arsenal came in for him in January

<p>Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that only Arsenal came in for him in January – but claims he didn’t want a move to China or America anyway.</p>, <p>The Gunners signed the Gabon international for a club-record £56million in the winter transfer window, after parting company with Alexis Sanchez.</p>, <p>Arsene Wenger identified the striker as his number one transfer target, and after some back and forth between Arsenal and Dortmund, got the deal over the line.</p>, <p>Meanwhile, Olivier Giroud left for Chelsea and Michy Batshuayi headed to Dortmund to complete the transfer merry-go-round.</p>, <p>Aubameyang had been on the radar of a number of clubs for some time – including Real Madrid – suggesting the Gunners were going to have some serious competition for his signature.</p>, <p>But the Gabon international forward confirmed that Arsenal were in fact the only club who made a formal offer for his services.</p>, <p>“It was the next step for me, it’s a big club. For me it’s a bit bigger than Dortmund, and this was a good step for me and my career,” Aubameyang told Sky Sports.</p>, <p>“I didn’t want to go, for example, to China, because I want to do a lot of things here in Europe before I think about China or America.</p>, <p>“Arsenal were the only club who made an offer, a real offer, and I’m really happy, because it’s a good club.”</p>, <p>Aubameyang has made three appearances for the north London club since signing in January, and has hit the back of the net once.</p>
