Early martinis were made with wine, gin, and an olive. A traditional Martini is made with equal parts gin and vermouth...but there are dozen of variations...including using vodka as the base.  When the James Bond movies debuted in the late 1960s, the popularity of the Martini increased....there is even an award winning documentary called: Martini-The Iconic Cocktail </p>
