As I continue my journey of discovery where African music is concerned, it gets harder and harder to put descriptions on the diverse sounds we produce as Africans. While the world over labels almost anything with an "African beat" or rhythm as afrobeats, I find that this mix is better classified as an afro-fusion as it has notes of African pop but leans on the dance element that (tribal) house music gives us. In addition to that, it carries heavy notes of indigenous instrumentation all the way. How do you put labels on the music of soaring African spirits and voices?
