He decided to start his first business—with two other college mates. The company wasn’t funded in the first year. The founders didn’t take any salary from the business. Adam had to work in a restaurant on weekends to keep his bank account going. In the second year, the founders raised capital.</p><p>The next four years were a roller coaster. The company had some decent success, but Adam never paid himself. He was literally living on his credit card for years, thinking he would get his big break soon.
