60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: An Elephant to Deliver Us From Our Writing Comfort Zone

<p>Hello to you listening in <a href="https://www.sandiego.org/explore/things-to-do.aspx" target="_blank">San Diego, California</a>!</p><p>Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with your host, Diane Wyzga.</p><p>The other day over coffee with my friend, Barb Mosher, <a href="https://www.barbaramosher.com/" target="_blank">acclaimed abstract artist</a> and <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/art-in-living/id1606229735" target="_blank">podcaster</a>  our conversation took an unexpected turn when Barb asked if I saw myself as a writer. Well, no, not like <a href="https://www.barclayagency.com/speakers/anne-lamott" target="_blank">Anne Lamott,</a> <a href="https://john-irving.com/" target="_blank">John Irving</a>, <a href="https://www.robinwallkimmerer.com/" target="_blank">Robin Wall Kimmerer</a>. But, you do write, she said. Magazine articles, stories, behind the scenes book editor, and let’s not forget your 600+ podcast episodes, right? Well, yeah.  </p><p>Enough, said Barb! If I was giving you advice (oh, boy, here it comes) I’d tell you to do something illogical, wild, and fun! I want you to devote 30 carefree minutes to this prompt so you can step away from pre-conceived notions and expectations. Okay listeners, if I have to do it, so do you.</p><p><strong>Story Prompt</strong>: There’s an elephant, dressed in plaid, sitting in my kitchen, eating grapes, out of the dog’s dish! Now what?
