60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: What If You Could Create Powerfully Collaborative Communication?

You’re explaining your idea or sharing your thoughts when someone says, “<i>Yes, but</i>” How did you feel? Discounted, defensive, invisible as if they had a better idea or one of greater value.</p><p>"<i>Yes, but</i>" communicates judgment. “<i>Yes, but</i>" is heard as negating what’s been said. Even if our intention is not judgmental, the speaker hears “<i>Yes, but</i>” as a critical response.</p><p>See what a difference it makes when we change one word to “<i>Yes, and</i>.”  The entire communication dynamic shifts to being seen, heard, included, and valued.
