#40: Vanished! | The Disappearance of Frederick Valentich

<p>On October 21, 1978, Australian amateur pilot Frederick Valentich disappeared off of the southern coast of Australia while attempting to fly across the Bass Strait to nearby King Island, located a short distance from the Australian state of Tasmania.</p> <p>Valentich's final communication to Australian air traffic control said that he was being pursued by a metallic-looking flying object that appeared to be following his every move from a few hundred feet above his Cessna airplane. In the communication, Valentich would confirm that the object was "not an aircraft."</p> <p>Did Valentich really see a UFO on that fateful day in October, and if so, was this UFO the culprit in the mysterious disappearance of Australian amateur pilot Frederick Valentich?</p>
