36% Increase In Adverse Incidents At UL Hospitals Since 2018

Clare's Aontú Representative claims the correlation between overcrowding and threats posed to patient well being can no longer be ignored at University Hospital Limerick. New figures released to the party show that last year alone, 6,307 instances involving slips, trips, falls and mistakes in the course of treatment were reported at the UL Hospital Groups six facilities. The figure marks an annual increase of 22%, meanwhile on average across the country 15% of cases resulted in injury to a patient. Aontú MidWest Public Relations Officer Eric Nelligan, says urgent investment is needed to relieve the burden on UHL.
