205: Chennai Water Crisis: How Did it Get So Bad & What is Govt Doing?

Tamil Nadu is dealing with an extreme crisis. First there’s the heat wave, add to that late rains and on an acute water shortage. And Chennai which is the capital of the state seems to be in the worst shape. The Tamil Nadu state government was clearly not prepared for such a severe water crisis clearly. Instead of making sustainable plans in advance, recently the Tamil Nadu government’s Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department instructed all major temples in Chennai to pray to the rain god for water. In the entire state, Chennai which a city of close to 10 million needs 880 million litres of water per day but it's getting 525 million litres, so that’s how bad the shortage is.
