<div>The National ministry of health has confirmed the presence of highly transmissible Omicron variant of the Covid-19 in South Sudan.<br> <br> </div> <div>The acting incident manager at the public health laboratory, Dr John Rumuno says received results of samples sent to East Africa indicate a presence of Omicron variant in South Sudan.<br> <br> </div> <div>The ministry of health is, however, reporting a drop in the number of covid-19 positive cases across the country.<br> <br> </div> <div>Two hundred and ninety-nine samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 17 came out positive. These new figures bring the cumulative number of active cases to 15,655 with 12,934 recoveries and a death toll of 136 to date. <br> <br> </div> <div>Dr Rumuno is cautioning the public to uphold the preventive measures. <br> <br> </div> <div>He also encourages people to vaccinate.  <br> <br> </div>
