168: Releasing Perfectionism

<p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">Releasing perfectionism isn't easy when you're a Type-A lawyer taught that perfectionism means you have it all together.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">What no one tells us is that perfectionism is the reason so many of us are anxious, overwhelmed, and aren't creating what we want to in the world.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">Today I'm unravelling the myth that perfectionism is something to be admired.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">I'm sharing how perfectionism hindered me in the past, but more importantly, I'm sharing the signs that perfectionism may be stopping you from doing what you want in the world.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">Some of the hints that you're stuck in perfectionism are:</span></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">you wait to create what you want</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">your brain comes up with excuses that feel like really smart "reasons" not to start</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">you get into learning more where all you do is accumulate information and not take action</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">you may notice yourself comparing yourself to others</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">you may say things to yourself that you've tied your identity to like:</span> <ul> <li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">"I'm just not the kind of person who (fill in the blank)...starts a business, leaves their job, writes a book."</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">"I don't know how."</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #000000;">"I don't have enough time.
