In San Jose, California, William Michael Dennis was holding a grudge against his ex-wife, Doreen Rae Hitchens-Erbert, and he had been for years. Michael blamed the 1980 accidental drowning death of their little boy on her. He felt she needed to be punished. A lawsuit against Doreen and her new husband, Charles Erbert, didn’t work.
