Description

The debut of Rum - or Kill-Devil as it was known at first. Regardless, this was a bad liquor, and it was how you let other people know you were bad. Yo-ho-ho and all that.
Molasses was the origin, and if anything, molasses was the receptacle of all of the evils of the sugar trade. You can clearly tell by its color of course. (If you are not a listener, and don't know me - heavens child, this is called sarcasm).
And from this waste stream of white sugar, the Demon rum was born.

Also please send me your questions and topic request for the 1st season question show!
I have been jokingly encouraged to make a clip show. Tempting, but that's a LOT of work for that joke.
I'd really rather answer questions of make wild guesses.

Music Credit: Fingerlympics by Doctor Turtle
Show Notes: https://thehistoryofamericanfood.blogspot.com/
Email: TheHistoryofAmericanFood@gmail.com
Twitter: @THoAFood
Instagram: @THoAFood
